Living in rural America requires some grit, some tenacity, and an understanding in the value of community. Running for public office in rural America takes a tremendous amount of all three. So, our mission is simple: build a community to ensure rural Democrats never travel the path to victory alone.

First and foremost we make Republicans work really hard by putting up a fight, for every seat.

How? Ensuring rural Democrats have the tools and empowerment to navigate the path to victory.

Why? Because if we don’t, who will? This is where we live, and we care too damn much to sit on the sidelines.

Where? Everywhere. When good candidates run, we can win, and as a party we can expand the map, everywhere.

Here’s the bottom line: No matter what backroad you take, the final destination is progress. We’re here to make progress, together.

Democrats in rural areas have been left behind for decades--lacking in infrastructure, organization, and resources. Our top priority is to help fill that gap by partnering, endorsing and helping to fund Democratic candidates running for Federal office.

Here’s our model: It’s straightforward, because running for office is complicated enough:

It doesn’t end there, because candidates are real people who need real support. Having run two legislative campaigns and two federal races, Tedra understands the value of having someone on the other end of the phone who, “gets it.”

Tedra L. Cobb was the Democratic Congressional Candidate from New York’s 21st district in 2018 and 2020. Tedra chose to run in a rural, red seat, against a well entrenched incumbent, Elise Stefanik. While Tedra did not prevail electorally, she and her team had unprecedented success--raising $7 Million, building a social media following of nearly 300,000, making over 3 Million voter contacts, and building a grassroots email list that is unparalleled.

Tedra L. Cobb has lived in northern New York for over 30 years. She came to the area first as a student, attending SUNY Potsdam in the late 1980s, and later earned a master’s degree in education there. Having lived her entire adult life as a resident of New York’s 21st Congressional District, she has worked in several important areas of local, regional, and statewide government, health care, education, and community service.

Tedra has firsthand experience working in government. She was elected and served as a St. Lawrence County Legislator in District 8 from 2002 to 2010. She served as Vice Chair and chaired both the Services Committee and the Government Review Committee. She led a strategic planning effort that resulted in increased cost savings, improved communications, and streamlined services. As Legislator, one of her most significant achievements involved the writing and passing of a new St. Lawrence County Ethics Law, which resulted in the appointment of a new Board of Ethics.

In health care, Tedra’s leadership experience includes serving as Executive Director of the St. Lawrence County Health Initiative, where she successfully developed a non-profit community health coalition from an initial start-up grant of $19,000 to an annual budget of over $500,000, with eight full-time staff. At the Health Initiative she obtained and successfully managed state and federal grant monies in excess of $1,600,000 to provide a variety of community health services to the region. Tedra has served on the boards of Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley, Northern Lights Home Healthcare, Inc., North Country Children’s Clinic, and the St. Lawrence Valley Renewal House.

Since 2003, Tedra has managed Tedra L. Cobb and Associates, a consulting business that is recognized nationally and internationally. The company offers strategic planning and organizational development, action planning, and evaluation with nonprofit organizations, community coalitions, and for-profit companies.
